This week is O-week at uni and it was pretty fun to meet the 1st year students, convince them to join the IESS and just engage in random conversations with equally random people :p

These are a few pictures I took at the society table...

The Mysteries of Life

I'm the kind of person where everything has to be layed out clearly in front of me and routine is the most important thing in the world (well, not really but you get the picture).

So it comes as no surprise that I am a total failure at analysing people since most of the time, there are no set patterns and no perfect stereotype. Even then, I seem to subconsciously categorise people into little labelled compartments to be stored in my head for further perusal at my leisure. Gosh, I sound psychotic! But seriously, it just comes naturally to me.

The point is that no matter how hard I try to fit everyone into these compartments I've come up with, there always is something that doesn't add up and I end up with a lot of 'unclassifieds' (if that is an actual word?).

An important part of how I deal and interact with the people around me is by this exact process. I need to know what type of person someone is before I can accurately respond to him or her. This all happens very quickly in my brain but the moment I start doing it, I get annoyed at myself for being so darn technical about anything and everything. Spontaneity is what makes this world go round... at least that is what I think. Therefore, its a good thing that not everyone in this world is like me!

I think its both good and bad that I think so much about things. It means that I seldom do anything with serious consequences, but it also means that there is hardly any chance of something truly amazing happening to me. It sucks A LOT. But I guess its a choice that I made, and I'm not sure whether I am ready to be more off-the-cuff, unrehearsed, ad-lib...? I don't think I am ready to face the negative repercussions of certain risks that other people take in life. Call me a coward, and perhaps I am. But I am smart enough to acknowledge the fact that only when I have the courage to do something and be mentally prepared to face the consequences, then will I be able to do things that could possibly make my life more fulfilling.

The greatest mystery of life in my opinion is fate. How it works, whether we really can control it, whether we can forsee it...

I'm tired now and I'm not even sure if all of the above makes sense. I hope it does... in some roundabout way. Sorry for being long-winded!

My Granny Brain

I forgot to watch House yesterday :(
Well, I remembered in time to watch the last 2 minutes of it... But then I found out that Numbers was after that!! :D Then I didn't feel so bad after all.

Wednesday 27 February 2008

Today is the first day where I have time to chill and relax properly. The only downside is that there aren't any good shows on TV until 8:30 p.m. when House starts :D Yes, I like House very much!!

So now here I am, simultanoeusly blogging and planning my TV 'adventure' for the night.

OMG I am soooo bored! Its a little confusing actually - when I am busy, all I can think of is how I'd like a nice relaxing day at home doing nothing. And when I actually have the chance to relax and do nothing at home (like I am supposed to be doing now), I feel this desperate urge to grab my keys, take a walk, and do something... ANYTHING!!!

Ah, life!

Monday 25 February 2008

I am too lazy to write anything more...

Everyone should be feeling very sad right now. This is the beginning of the end... :(

Though I desperately hope it isn't!! This blog needs some serious CPR :p

Back in Melbourne

I find it so weird to be equally 'at home' in two completely different places. A little confusing actually. I flew back to Melbourne yesterday and when I reached it struck me how just a day before I had been at home with my family watching TV like it was just any other day at home.

Ooohh, on the plane, I was sitting next to this totally random Malaysian dude who was watching something on the in-flight entertainment thingy and was laughing aloud to himself ever so often. I also had to get up countless times to let him go to the toilet. Then, I accidentally doze off and my head ends up on his shoulder for like 5 seconds!!! o_O You can bet that I was absolutely horrified!! But it was a funny experience :p

So now here I am in Melbourne. Only been back for a little over 24 hours and so far things are looking pretty good. My housemate, Ling, and I went to Ikea to buy furniture and we are going to be assembling it tomorrow with the help of our friends and an electric screwdriver :D I actually just got back from a friend's 20th birthday dinner party and that was a whole lot of fun too. I just hope my good fortune (haha, I used the word 'fortune') continues throughout the year.

I don't think I will be able to post as frequently as I have been now that I am back in Melbourne. As a matter of fact, I have not written as many posts this month as I did in January. I do still have the strongest of urges to blog at the most random of times, the only difference is that I have less time to blog at my leisure. So this is myself acknowledging the fact that my blog posts will not be as frequent as I would like them to be :( :(

Tuesday 19 February 2008

Oh and I have a fringe, and I'm flying back to Melbourne on Friday. Two totally unrelated events, but hey(!) who can blame me for getting straight to the point? ;)

I also need a pedicure. I've been growing my toenails for the perfect pedicure, but the place that I usually go to is fully booked :( I swear, my toenails are beginning to look like evil rabbit claws... (do rabbits have claws?). Well anyway, that's what they look like. I wouldn't like to be my nails right now :s

What IS 'The Secret'?

Recently, everyone has been talking about this book called 'The Secret'. Apparently it is a life changing experience to have read this book... Ooookaayyyy. Yeah, right :p

Well, I went for my routine dental check-up this afternoon and my dentist's waiting area had a copy of the book. I wanted to know what this amazing life-changing secret was and so I casually flipped through the book. I found a page that said 'What is the Secret?'. Guess what the answer was? I would never have guessed what was coming next. Well, the Secret is.... wait for it... Attraction o_O

Yeah, well I guess it sort of made sense. Our lives are based on different attractions to anything and everything that surrounds us everyday. But it took an over-hyped book to tell us that? I didn't have time to read more but my sister says that there is more than one Secret in that book. I guess its for me to discover when I have more time :p

So for now, the Big Secret seems to be ATTRACTION. Gah! I wish I had thought of that...

I couldn't go shopping because I woke up late...

This is me complaining...
  1. I was supposed to go to Mid Valley but accidentally overslept...
  2. My new glasses and contacts were supposed to be made before the Chinese New Year but still aren't ready :(
  3. My dentist doesn't want to me to make an appointment to see her... no one is answering my calls...
This is dumb. I will stop now... though part of me wants to go on ranting, I'm guessing no one else wants to hear me complain except myself. And I also am aware of how emo I sound :p For the record, I'm NOT feeling emo.

:D :D :D

The Fish Spa

Finally, I got to check out the Fish Spa at the Pavillion in KL. The place is very nice, and the fish don't smell :D A huge plus when you think of it!

So there we were, my sister and I - letting the little silvery fish nibble at our feet. It was very ticklish at first but I got used to it after a few minutes. Eventually, there were A LOT of fish eating at my feet (I must've had a lot of dead skin for them to feed on) and it was beginning to feel like I had pins and needles where the fish were biting me... A lot of little fish pinching at bits of my skin with their mouths :s

Well, here are some pics (I'm such a camwhore!!)

This was in the beginning... think 10 times the fish nibbling my feet!

My sister and I

Look at the huge fish!!!

I apologize if these pictures grossed you out :p

Yesterday

Well, my family decided to have a 'family outing' to Mid Valley yesterday. So the programme was shopping then lunch then movie (Sweeney Todd).

Shopping was annoying because there weren't any sales going on and all I bought was a bagful of toiletries from Watson's. Yes, a lot of fun indeed.

Had lunch at the food court then went for the movie...

The movie... :s
I had such high hopes for Johnny Depp and the movie in general but these hopes were very quickly trampled over and squashed by the gory, bloody throat-slitting scenes (I agree with you, Jeremy!). And yes, there were many of these scenes. blegh!! There are only a handful of ways to kill someone with a shaving blade '= ='. Johnny still did a very good job playing ST and his singing was really good too. I believe even his voice did some acting while he was singing all those songs (if that's possible...) So overall, it wasn't a very good movie. I expected so much more!

Summary of what happened yesterday:

Good points...
  • I got to spend money that wasn't mine :p
  • My parents watched a movie with my sister and me after a veerrryyyy loooonnngg time
  • My dad stayed awake for the whole movie! I was quite surprised.
  • The supermarket was having an offer for Vitagen. I now have a lot of happy bacteria partying in my intestines. lol :p
Bad points...
  • The so-called 'sale' was pretty much non-existent!
  • I couldn't find nice flip-flops to buy (they had sizes 6 and 8, but no 7) :(
  • My dad scolded the girl sitting behind him in the cinema for kicking his seat. So embarrassing!!!
  • The movie was Disappointing. But I still love Johnny Depp!!
  • I couldn't find the brand of butter I like and so had to settle for a brand I'd never heard of :s

Bruce Willis is such a great actor!!!

Friday 1 February 2008

I was watching a TV programme at 11:30 p.m. when I heard these loud 'bangs'. There were like 100 of them (or maybe less :p), my point is there were A LOT of 'bangs'. And I was watching TV alone in the living room while everyone else was sleeping at the back. Yeah, I'm already scared as it is of being in my own home alone at night even if its just in the living room. Then these weird sounds (which I thought were gunshots) suddenly start going off. *OMG* were my exact first thoughts. Then I called out to my mom (what a baby *blush*), then I figured that it couldn't possibly be gunshots that I was hearing (duh!) - it was the sound of fire-crackers. Yeah, so after being laughed at by my parents (my sister was too fast asleep to be bothered), I resumed my TV programme. I've never watched Nip/Tuck but after watching this episode (I don't know which episode it is) I realised that its a pretty cool show, gross operation bits aside. Watch Nip/Tuck!!

Oh and if no one has noticed yet, I've become one big TV addict. I've just finished my 4th hour of TV for tonight (not including the daytime shows that I watched :p). Hopefully the idiot box doesn't make me idiotic (first sign that it is... :s)
