I arived back in Melbourne this morning, leaving behind Perth and my numerous uncles, aunties, cousins, friends and my parents and sister. The sudden leap from being surrounded by at least 5 people at anytime (at most it was about 20) to being in my apartment with my housemate (only 1 person)... well, the gaping difference takes a while to sink in. So I wouldn't call this feeling homesickness, I just use this word for lack of a better term to describe this ___(???)-shock.
Perth was good, I really wish I could stay there longer. I haven't had enough of what I did there, and also didn't get to do all that I wanted to do for want of time.
Now it is time for me to get back to uni, assignments, haphazard budgeting, rash ATM withdrawals and all those things typical uni students do.
I really should be doing my assignment and tutorial prep now...
But it's so much more fun just to Facebook, blog and chat :p
However, because I am a person of unbounded will power and self-discipline, I will get back to my work now :D Lol!
Theme: My life; Variations: How it changes on a day to day basis... if at all :p

My Fave Songs as of NOW (in no particular order)
- Hey Delilah - The Plain White Ts
- Please Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna
- Love Song - Sara Bareilles
- Shine - Take That
- No One - Alicia Keys
- Valerie - Amy Winehouse
That's all I can think of now. They are very good (though some over-played). Trust me. I have good taste :D
My 3 year old cousin has finally started talking to me!!!
I had to bribe him to hug me with a bag of m&ms yesterday and from then on, we have been having proper 2-way conversations!! It used to be me talking and him running away without saying a word (sometimes he shakes his head in response)... like he would literally run away from me! Yeah, I know I'm THAT scary :p
So now we know, bribery can be a good thing as far as little kids go :D Hehe.

My First Day in Perth
I like Perth, even though it's a little boring for some people. I have half my family there and that's what makes it fun :D My cousins can drive now, and have their own cars. I get fed well. And my parents have flown over too - which means that I don't have to spend my own money :p
I watched the AFL match at the Subioco Oval - West Coast Eagles vs the Brisbane Lions. It was pretty interesting to see everyone dressed up in their Eagles jerseys and scarfs and caps, carrying their Eagles flags to wave during the game. Even I had a scarf to wear (my family in Perth are devout Eagles supporters:p) Some bits of the game were exciting, but some parts were quite boring. My sister and I even accidentally cheered for the Lions once (and got scolded by my 11 year old cousin) *blush!*
At night, we chilled at my uncle's place and then went out to Fremantle for some gelato. It was pretty good! Comparable to the Melbourne gelato :D
More updates coming soon. Stay tuned!!

Is there a correlation between the weather and a person's mood?
Is there???
For me, I think there is...
Outside - cloudy+gloomy, Me - cloudy+gloomy+sleepy
Outside - bright+sunny, Me - bright+sunny+happy+perky+happpyyy :D :D
So.... the verdict??
I dunno, you decide :p
ehehehehe :D :D

A Random Thought
How does a breeze cool someone down? I mean, what is it in the air moving at that speed that relieves a person in the hot weather? Aren't they just microscopic particles bumping into your body? I don't think we ever learned this in school.... :p

I Want To DO SOMETHING!!!
I have been feeling quite restless these past few days - as if what I have been doing everyday isn't fulfilling enough. I don't derive any satisfaction from going about my daily routine. Or maybe there is some sort of satisfaction just not as much as I would like it to be. I really want to set a goal and work towards achieving it... But what goal? I am not sure. Should it be another technically demanding music piece? An aim to thoroughly study all that has been thought at uni thus far? Making this blog over? Targetting to make one new friend everyday? Or maybe it should be to attempt to bake something more complicated... a souffle perhaps (I have never tried to bake one before)? Maybe I should get a job!!
I want to do something, ANYTHING... satisfying, exciting, random?!?!
OMG, I think I am driving myself crazy... in a very slow and painful manner :p
Help!

I like all my lecturers except for one... And that is because he doesn't interest me in any way whatsoever.
I can't wait to go to Perth!! But at the same time, I don't want to miss out on the fun in Melbourne :p
Errmmm... what else?
I don't think carrots should be used as the nose on snowmen. I mean, whose nose is pointy AND orange anyway?

Is it human nature to never be satisfied with our lives?
To always want bigger, better, more expensive things?
To long for what is outside our reach?
To compare ourselves to others and only see what we lack?
And yet, is this not what spurs us on?
To push ourselves to the limit and take ourselves beyond what is deemed to be our fate in the natural order of events?
Would mankind be this advanced if not for our hunger for more?
The answer to me is - no, we would not.
But then again, I am sure that there are people in this world who are perfectly happy with their lives though others may find it lacking in many ways.

The Malaysian voters have cast their ballots... I am very excited as to find out how many seats will be won by the Government and how many will be lost to the Opposition. It's weird for me to think that here I am all these miles away from my home country and yet I feel this strong sense of concern as to what is going on there. It's during times like these that I feel a surprisingly strong sense of patriotism for my country. Despite everything that has been happening in Malaysia, I wouldn't call anywhere else home. I am Malaysian through and through :D

Ling and I had our housewarming party yesterday and this is what we made for our guests. Yes, we MADE everything on our own :D well, except for the nachos :p
Our feast of sushi, salad, quiche (which looks like eggtarts but apparently tastes really gooood), nachos, mashed potatoes and SATAY (which tasted more like terriyaki :p)

Funny Signs
I found this first sign at my sister's orchestra rehearsal. Obviously almost all of the members could ONLY read music... :p
And this one was when we went to buy eggs at Coles in Melbourne Central... Lol!!!
Well, the sign says 'Please arrange your shoes neatly AND do not leave shoes in front of door'
These people obviously know how to follow written instructions :p

Just A Few Thoughts
Why do people voluunteer themselves for situations that have negative effects on them? Why do they create their own problems and then complain about having to fix them when the problem could have been avoided altogether? I have seen so many people who get themselves into situations that get messy and unpleasant that were caused by themselves in the first place. But I guess things like that just add a breadth experience in our lives, huh?
Have movies clouded people's perceptions of reality? Have our minds been conditioned to accept what is seen on TV and in cinemas as an accurate model of the real world? I must say that to a certain extent, even the most far-fetched things we see on TV have some sort of resemblence to real life. Whether its a happy ending to a romantic comedy, or a bloody war scene... I mean, the directors and scriptwriters have to get their idea from somewhere right?
Does giving birth really hurt as much as people say it does? Because if it does, there are still a whole lot of women who are still willing to have children anyway...

First Day at Uni
I must say that I had mixed feelings about starting uni again. I was excited to see what everyone looked like after 3 months - whether they had lost/gained weight, whether they had new hairstyles, things like that. But at the same time I didn't feel ready to take the big plunge into the unexpected world of my lectures, tutorials and assignments :s
Now I'm taking a little break before heading back to uni for a meeting followed by my first orchestra rehearsal of the semester! I am very excited. I wonder what our repertoire for this concert will be. Some Gershwin maybe? *fingers crossed!!*
Before I leave, a small comment about the weather here. IT IS SO DAMN FREAKIN' HOT!!!
I have heat rashes :( And they itch... A LOT!!
Oh and this is totally unrelated to the main topic of this post but sometimes I wish I had a wire that linked my brain to my computer so that I can just think out my blog posts and it gets typed out and posted. Because I find that nowadays, the way I think sounds a lot like what I say in this blog... So I feel like my brain is in permanent 'blog mode' :p I need help!!!

My Right Contact Lense - A True Story :p
Today was a funny day. I volunteered to be a volunteer (lol :p) for this Orientation Week event similiar to the Amazing Race except people race around Melbourne and its suburbs and don't get to win $500,000 (or however much the real Amazing Race winners get). So I was stationed at the checkpoint at St Kilda Beach.
It was a very nice place to be stationed. My other check-point buddies and I had lots of fun despite the chilly sea breeze.
As we were nearing the end of our 'duty', one of my contact lenses decided to rebel and unceremoniuosly popped out of my eye and attached itself to the inside of my sunglasses. It had never happened to me before and I was stumped as to what I should do next. My friend suggested putting it in water, so I put it in my water bottle... you know, to 'rehydrate' the pitiful, pruney fella. I must say I found the whole experience very amusing!!
There is a happy ending to the story of this contact lense of mine. When I got home, I washed it in solution and put it back into the lense case. I had managed to resuscitate my poor little shrivelled up and nearly lifeless contact lense :D The End... LOL!
